Antique Opaque Custard or Yellow Mold Blown Glass Shaker Spider Web Pattern Dithridge & Company Pittsburgh, PA
Description: A beautiful light yellow or custard colored opaque glass mold blown shaker in the Spider Web pattern. There is six bulging lobes around the circumference. The shaker, which is colored in opaque light yellow or custard, has a raised motif of intricate scroll on the entire body. This web like motif completely covers the entire shaker. The design or pattern is raised and is really very nicely done. The shaker has a screw on metal top, which is most likely not original to the piece, and a footed based with a recessed center. This is a rather rare and unusual shaker. See page 67 in Mildred & Ralph Lechner's book The World of Salt Shakers, published by Collector Books of Paducah, KY 1992 for a similar example. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1894-1897. Origin: Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Size: ~2 3/4" in diameter at its widest and it is ~2 3/8" tall including the metal top. The piece weighs 3 ounces. Maker: Dithridge &a
