Antique Painted Redware Apple Form Still Coin Bank Large Coin Slot on Top
Description: An antique painted redware still coin bank. The bank is shaped in the form of an apple and is painted in red. The surface of the bank is smooth to mimic the surface of an apple. The bank has a flattened bottom with a recessed center on which it can stand. It does have a flattened top again with a recessed center, where a stem would be. It has a rather large in width and length coin slot at the edge of the top. The red color exhibits losses and discoloration and you can see the base coloring which was put before applying the red paint. The bank also has some spots where all the coloring is lost and you can see the redware under it. The piece also has a few stains and several spots where the surface is uneven and shows crevasses and bumps all being original to the making as you would expect from an antique primitive piece of pottery. Examination of the surface reveal the presence of a few minor surface chips to the color where you can see the redware. Other than that, the pi
