Antique Painted Wood Humidor or Tobacco Jar with Locking Lid Briggs Wood Aged Smoking Tobacco

Description: Antique barrel shaped wooden tobacco jar or humidor. This Briggs wood aged smoking tobacco wood container retains its original red paint. The red paint makes this jar unusual in the sense that if you research similar tobacco jars you will not see many that are painted red. The barrel has a lift off lid that can be locked by inserting the ends of a metal strip attached to the lid into grooves on the top of the side walls and twisting it. The side of the lid is marked with the impressed words "Briggs Smoking Tobacco; When a Feller Needs a Friend" pressed into the wood. The top of the lid is also marked with the impressed words "Brigg's Smoking Tobacco Aged in the Wood" which are difficult to read because of the leathering of the red paint with age. The interior of the barrel shows the wood and is un-painted. The bottom of the barrel is also un-painted and has the tobacco tax stamp which indicates this is a product of the Lorillard Tobacco Company. The piece is in excellent u
