Antique Pewter Snuff Box Manufactured By J. M. Carlstedt Rockford Illinois USA

Description: This antique (circa late 19 century or early 20th century) heavy pewter snuff box or snuffbox made by J. M. Carlstedt of Rockford Illinois in the United States. The box, which is rectangular in shape, has rounded sides and is lightly rounded or curved on top and bottom. The box also has rounded corners. The piece has well-formed integral hinges and the lid itself has an extension to the front to allow you to open it easily. The box is undecorated and has smooth surfaces throughout. It has a silvery look to it and is rather heavy and feels great in your hand. The inside of the lid has the following inscription in raised lettering "MANUFACTURED B J. M. CARLSTEDT ROCKFORD ILLS". A great and substantial snuff box in very good condition after being around for over 100 years. The box has a paper sticker applied to the bottom, most likely put there by the previous owner, which describes the box. A nice addition to any collection.
