Description:  A beautiful hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art Schimmel-like lion standing on all four and having a mounted tail. The lion is colored in brown with red highlights. It has its eyes, nose, mouth, and the end of its tail colored in black. The lion is standing on a green colored base with its toes outlined in black. of yellow with black and red highlights. The lion's main and the end of the mounted tail show details of hair, while the rest of the lion shows carving marks. The lion has black eyes, eye brows, mouth, toes, and nostrils. It does have a red highlights to the mouth. The hole where the mounted tail was inserted can be seen and some glue residue can be gleaned if you look carefully for it. These are artifacts of the making process and are original to the making of the piece. The entire piece is carved from wood.
