Forged Iron Pie Crimper Bird Décor Brass Wheel H. W. Dietrich Lenhartsville PA
Description: A very unusual and rather interesting folk art forged iron and brass kitchen tool, made by Henry Woodrow Dietrich of Lenhartsville in berks County Pennsylvania. This is a primitive folk art pie crimper and pastry cutter. The tool is made of wrought iron with a curved end with a perched cut bird which we believe represents a rooster and the opposite end having a fork. The crimper has a brass wheel having a jagged edge near the end where the bird is. The piece, which is hand made by Mr. Dietrich who lived in the period 1918-2005, has developed a nice and warm gray patina throughout. it is stamped H.W. DIETRICH on the bird. A great piece of Pennsylvania forged iron folk art to add to your collection. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Unknown but most likely sometime in mid to late 1900s. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The piece was made in Lenhartsville, PA. Size: The tool is ~7 5/8
