Glazed Oley Valley Pottery Pa Redware Moravian Style Square Plate House & People
Description: A square shaped redware plate or dish, probably 1940s, having a plain edge or rim. The plate which is glazed and has a black colored background coloring in the Moravian style. The plate has a drawn design depicting a yellow house with brown windows, door, and roof decoration. There is a man and a woman standing to the left of the house and green colored trees or plants surrounding the house. The entire image is surrounded by a decorative wavy line design with feathers? in the corners. The back of the plate which is also glazed has a brown color that rises to the rim of the plate which is also brown. The plate is marked on the bottom with the words "Oley Valley Pottery Pa" in block letters. The piece shows general overall crazing to the glaze with no evident losses to the glaze.
