Description:  A large, probably 1940s, redware plate having a coggled edge or rim. The plate which is glazed has a yellow background coloring. The plate has a drawn design depicting a bird perched on the stem of a tulip flower with another tulip behind it. The back of the plate which is also glazed has a brown color that rises to the rim of the plate which is also brown. The plate is signed with what we believe the initials HG on the back. It is also marked on the bottom with the words Oley Valley Pottery Pa in cursive calligraphy. The piece shows general overall crazing to the glaze with one triangle-shaped small surface flake in the center of the plate. Be that as it may, it is still a great looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.   Date: Unknown but most likely from the 1940s.   Origin: Oley Valley, Berks County Pennsylvania.   Size: The plate is ~9 3/4" diameter and is ~1 1/4" high.
