Mount Vernon Collection Mansion West Front Image By Savage Ashley Enamels Box
Description: This is an oval-shaped enamel on copper trinket box made by Ashly Copper Enamels in England. This box has a hinged lid that is nicely decorated with a colorful transfer image of the west Front of the Mount Vernon Mansion as painted by Edward Savage in1792. The box is wine colored on the outside and white on the inside. The inside of the lid has information about the scene on the lid written in detail (see 6th and 7th photos for details). The box has an oval flat base with rising straight sides. The bottom of the inside is undecorated. Both top and bottom are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a thumb piece on the front of the top portion. The inside of the box is also enameled and has a white coloring. The bottom of the box is also wine colored and is marked "ASHLEY COPPER ENAMELS ENGLAND / Handpainted By HB". The brass ends of both the top and bottom are clean, shiny, and add immensely to the beauty of this box. This is a very nice piece and would make
