Description: An antique pewter plate from the United Kingdom. This plate has a flat, undecorated, inwards slanted ~1 1/4" wide rim and a deep undecorated center with rounded sides. It was made by Timothy Richards from England. Timothy Richards was certified as a pewterer in 1699 and we believe this plate if from the early 1700s. The pewter plate is ~9 3/8" in diameter and ~1" in height. The rim of the plate has a rolled edge which can be seen on the back. The plate has a fairly deep and plain center with no decorative elements. The plate is marked on the underside with a Timothy Richards' mark consisting of the word FECIT within a scroll above a rose with prince of Wales feathers on top of it and the name RICHARDS within a scroll below it. The mark should also have a scroll with the name Timothy on top but it is worn-off. This is mark # 647 in the Pewter Collector: A Guide to English Pewter with Some Reference to Foreign Work, by Masse and published by H. Jenkins (Dodd Mead & Co. N
