Emperor’s Kitchen Traditional Umeboshi Vinegar is the tart, salty by-product of the pickling of umeboshi plums. The ruby red color comes from red shiso (beefsteak leaf), an ingredient used in the pickling process of the plums. Sprinkle it on blanched or steamed vegetables, or add to salad dressings, marinades, hot sauce, salsa, and dips. Derived from pickled ume plums. Our Umeboshi Vinegar is fruity, tangy, and salty. Umeboshi vinegar can be used in marinades and salad dressing. Makes a great vegan substitute for fish sauce or anchovies. Umeboshi vinegar with shiso (perilla) leaves has been used in Japan for centuries for its perceived health benefits including aiding in digestion. Ingredients: Water, Ume (Japanese Plum), Sea Salt, Shiso (Perilla) Leaves
