6th century Coptic Textile - 3.5" x 3.5"

  This coptic textile was woven in Egypt in the 6th century AD near the end of classical antiquity.  It features a male figure in motion with bent legs and face in profile. He wears classical clothing of the era and is surrounded by a variety of zoomorphic devices or protection symbols. The composition is rendered in hues of deep maroon and ivory and framed by a curved border of trefoils.  In very good condition considering its significant age. It has some discoloration towards the bottom right (as pictured).
