19th Century Moghan Kazak Rug - 3'9 x 6'2
This Moghan Kazak rug was handwoven during the late 19th century in the Moghan Plain in the South Caucasus. It features offset Memling guls in primary colors of red, blue, and yellow on a soothing ivory ground and framed by an interlocking sawtooth border. Some guls become distorted as these reach the edges. Gentle abrash, wonderful spacing, a pleasing palette, and just enough wonkiness make this a very satisfying piece. Very good condition with a lot of properly done restoration which shows a slight but visible variation in the ivory tone. Size: 3'9" x 6'2" [114cm x 188cm] Age: Late 19th Century Country of Origin: South Caucasus (Moghan Plain) Type of Rug: Kazak Material: Wool Pile Height: Low Condition: Very Good, lots of properly done repairs.
