Antique Weathered Kurdish Rug - 3'2 x 5'10
This Kurdish rug was handwoven during the late 19th century. It features a weathered pattern of polygons filled with memling guls and surrounded by an inner border of eight pointed stars and an outer floral meander border. A wonky village weave with all natural dyes and hearty wool. The wear showcases the rug's use over more than a century and celebrates it materiality by exposing the handspun warps and wefts. In fair condition with wear to the foundation throughout and missing parts of the end borders on two sides. The pile is low and dense with a floppy handle.
