Timeless Love - Heart in Hand - Antique Mirror in Antique Velvet Presentation Case

  Where do I begin with this one of a kind love token?!! I bought the antique blue velvet presentation case some time ago. I was saving it for myself, but never brought it out to display. It is faded, worn, but, oh, when you open it… the color is still there and the velvet is beautiful! The one day I discovered an antique reverse painting mirror. The painting was of a lady and gentleman, but their heads had deteriorated! I went to put it away and realized it fit in the velvet pocket watch case! And then I knew what had to happen… I made a tiny heart in hand to go inside, but I didn’t remove the remains of the painting. I wanted to keep what was left, since it has made it this long through time. The paper behind the heart and hand is original to this piece. It moves around in the case when it’s closed, so I made a lace covered cushion to keep it secure inside. I wrote a little note to tuck inside, explaining how this marriage came to be. It is written in a scrap of 1800s French document
