The belt leather bag is designed to be both chic and utilitarian. With one small zipper pocket up front covered by a clasped flap, as well as two larger zippered pockets on the top, it is more than enough to keep all your necessities organized. These bags are made in San Juan La Laguna by Manuela who is part of a women's coop who are survivors of domestic abuse. They are made from cow leather from a local farm and leftover pieces of huipil for the ornate embroidery. The soft full grain leather is made with environmentally friendly methods using the entire cow and sustainable tanning methods which only gets better with age. The embroidered fabric used is called “huipil”. The word huipil comes from the Náhuatl word huipilli, meaning “my covering".
