cobalt poncho

The poncho is made from cotton that is handpicked and spindled into yarn while adding acrylic to give it a luxurious "Guatemalan cashmere" feel. The yarn is then vegetable dyed with basil, grown by the women in the coop gardens, to bring out the bluish green of a cobalt blue and hand woven using a traditional back loom. All the work is done by a fair wage small women's coop who are survivors of domestic abuse in Panajachel, Guatemala. There may be slight variations as with any artisanal product.
