cross body leather fanny
The cross body leather fanny is designed to be both chic and utilitarian. With one medium sized zipper pocket up front, as well as one extra large zippered pocket on the top, and a small zipper pocket in the back, there is ample room for all your necessities. These bags are made in San Juan La Laguna by Manuela who is part of a women's coop who are survivors of domestic abuse. They are made from cow leather from a local farm and leftover pieces of huipil for the ornate embroidery. The soft full grain leather is made with environmentally friendly methods using the entire cow and sustainable tanning methods which only gets better with age. The embroidered fabric used is called “huipil”. The word huipil comes from the Náhuatl word huipilli, meaning “my covering". The fabric is made using hand picked cotton that is then spindled in to yarn. The yarn is then vegetable dyed and woven entirely by hand using a traditional back loom. This technique has been taught from generation to generatio
