rust poncho

The poncho is made from cotton that is handpicked and spindled into yarn while adding acrylic to give it a luxurious "Guatemalan cashmere" feel. In order to create the vibrant rust color, carrots and cinnamon are boiled in heavy kettles. The vegetables and plants used in the dyeing process were grown by women in their organic and sustainable gardens. All the work is done by a fair wage small women's coop who are survivors of domestic abuse in Panajachel, Guatemala. There may be slight variations as with any artisanal product.
