Original Item: Only One Available. These are three German WWII MP 43 / 44 de-milled receiver sections, acquired over the years by IMA as extra parts, which we have chosen to sell as a set. Called the Sturmgewehr (Storm / Assault Rifle) 44, it was considered by many to be the original pattern for the modern assault rifle. The MP44 was developed to give German troops fighting in Russia a means of delivering large volumes of fire at the seemingly endless supply of Soviet troops. The first piece is from the muzzle end of the receiver, measuring about 1 1/2" long. It is marked with Waffenamt proofs on the bottom, as well as maker code swj, a code attributed to Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, Werk Steyr, the legendary Austrian arms company. This famous maker manufactured all manner of Small Arms during the war, and used code "bnz" earlier in the war. The second piece is a partial magazine well section, measuring about 3 7/8" long.
