Original Item: One Only. This is a really nice untouched example, purchased from a private collector, who left the sword as he had purchased it from Augusta, GA in 1997. The blade is dated 1862 on the ricasso with N.J. stamped on the reverse. This could be a maker mark, but most likely it indicates a link to the state of New Jersey. However due to the area where it was acquired, it's possible that the reason it has no "U.S." marking is because it is confederate linked. Definitely worth of further research! The sword has a 31 1/4" curved blade, and measures 37" overall. The brass "D" guard encloses a brass wire bound leather hand grip, which is somewhat deteriorated due to age and use. The blade does not show much use, and still has the original issue "blunt" edge. It has a nice peppery patina with light surface oxidation, which we have left intact.
