Intermediate Jazz Theory: Totally II Vs Song Analysis for Improvisation, Erik Hanson, Monday, 4:00-5:30
This class will meet weekly on Mondays running June 23rd - August 25th with performances on August 29th. Students are welcome to join online. Do you wish you knew more about what notes "work" when soloing on a song? This class develops your understanding of harmonic progressions (chord progressions) and song forms to be better equipped for improvisation (and memorization). Course Content: Totally II Vs' Song Analysis for Improvisation will cover harmonies that include diatonic chord progressions, secondary dominants, passing diminished chords, substitute dominants, and modal interchange through weekly work on Roman Numeral Analysis and Tonality Identification. Prerequisites: A basic understanding of chord types is helpful but not required. A basic knowledge of key signatures is the minimum knowledge needed to benefit from the class. Prior enrollment in Totally II Vs is NOT required to enroll in this course. Totally II Vs Students: Totally II Vs students from this past school year
