The tea leaves are very fragrant upon opening the package for the first time. The first brew is quite interesting with a moderately astringent taste when warm that lingers on the palate. As the liquid cools the astringency becomes milder and a slight sweetness appears which results in a most pleasant finish. The second brew is a milder version of the first that is a little sweeter. A light touch of earthiness comes forth as the liquid cools. Excellent Deep Steamed Sencha is destined to become a classic Japanese green tea.
