1982 Dong Ding Oolong

1982 Dong Ding Oolong   A complex 40 year old tea at a great price, we picked this one up because of the wonderful interplay between the 'taste of age' and the warm apple notes with a hint of spice of a well aged roasted tea. Careful brewing will bring those warm apple notes almost magically out the more familiar old bookcase taste of oolong this age. This one doesn't have the same 'tea dunk' kick as the 1970s oolong, but it is a much more subtle and complex tea. Aged teas from Dong Ding this good are rare. Most teas from the area get re-roasted many times over the years giving them a thick, soapy note for the first steep. We are happy to be able to share one that has mostly escaped the over roasting, giving this tea a gentle complexity very rare in teas this age. **The authenticity of aged teas is always an issue as there are many bad actors in the space. This tea was purchased from the same place as many of our aged teas, a famous and very respectable company that specializes in Pue
