Blunt ended Dolciva is a "Nantes" type carrot, named after the region in France, were popular in the US in the early part of the 20th century until long, tapered carrots dominated the market. Dolciva is an excellent storage carrot because it attains incredible sweetness when stored. You can "store" carrots right in the ground by placing a strawbale on top of them in late fall which prevents the ground from freezing and allowing them to be dug all winter long.
