1910 Photogravure Arc De Triomphe Triumphal Roman Arch Orange France Gaul XGCB8
This is an original 1910 sepia photogravure of "Arc de Triomphe, Orange." The Triumphal Arch of Orange, located in southeast France, is built upon the former Via Agrippa, a stretch of Roman roads through Gaul originally built by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. The structure was erected to honor the veterans of the Gallic Wars and Legio II Augusta. Contemporary research dates construction to the reign of Augustus. The structure is the oldest surviving example of a design that would later be used in the city of Rome, inspiring the designs of the Arch of Septimius Severus and the Arch of Constantine.CONDITIONThis 101+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine+.
