This is an original 1940 color print of a home in the Philippine Islands. The caption writes, "Ancient, flattened, and rusty kerosene tins often form part of the construction of a Filipino's house-- although the usual building materials are nipa palm and bamboo, the free gifts of tropical nature..." Photography by Fenno Jacobs. Charles Fenno Jacobs (1904-1974) was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He had a recognized reputation as a photographer by 1941, and worked for Life Magazine as well as Fortune.
