Seed Count: Approx. 100 seeds Days to Maturity: 58-90 days from transplant Description: This historic and delicious variety dates back to the 1880s, when it was brought to America by Italian immigrants. The tight heads can grow up to 8" in diameter, and after the central head is harvested, many side shoots will form, and they can be harvested right up to frost.  The side shoots make for an even more bountiful harvest.  The consistent large heads make this variety an effective use of  space in the garden, and is a variety often seen in markets.   How To Grow Sowing:  Broccoli grows best in cool weather, so starting your seeds indoors, 5-6 weeks before the last expected frost, will ensure a faster more successful crop. Right before the last frost, and when the seedlings reach about 6 inches tall, plant them 1-2' apart in rows 2-3' apart. For direct sowing seeds, plant them 1" deep and 3" apart with full sun exposure and rich soil, about 2-3 weeks before the last expected spring frost.  S
