Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie inspired by Levain

A friend first brought me to Levain on a weekend getaway to New York City. It was easy to fall in love with these thick and gooey cookies. Since my trips to NYC are so infrequent, I needed a better way to source them. Hence this copycat. As the New York Times says, these "may possibly be the largest, most divine chocolate chip cookies in Manhattan."
