Each leaf is fashioned from a folded piece of indigo dyed cotton so the actual width of each piece is twice what is shown above. This is a merchant's sample book and each of the samples in the book are of a pattern very close in design to one another and more than likely the book was used to sell full bolts of kasuri cotton with the intention of stitching a kimono from the full bolt. A collectible item, and reccommeded.
