Domaine Sebastien Magnien Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes De Beaune Rouge
The young and talented Sebastien Magnien is highly spoken of by Burgundy connoisseurs, as his wines represent some of the finest values coming out of the Cote de Beaune. He's the 4th generation of his family to make wines for his family's estate, and he trained well for the job. After gaining experience at Domaine Rossignol in Gevrey and Olivier Leflaive in Puligny, Sebastien headed to California where he worked at Hartford Court. Today, he calls Meursault home, and he tends to all of the duties of the family winery. Sebastien's Hautes-Cotes de Beaune comes from a 55 year-old, rocky, organically farmed plot of Pinot Noir on the family's property. Aged for 12 months in French oak (10% new), it shows classic and wonderful Red Burgundy elegance. Delicate, ethereal, and gorgeous, it showcases notes of red and dark berries, smoky minerality, complex spice, and refined tannins. A ton of Red Burgundy for the money!
