Terse Verse Insight:Barzel is a Hebrew word meaning 'iron' or 'axe'. In 2 Kings 6, the prophet Elisha makes a sunken axe head float in the Jordan River. 550 years later, in Matthew 3:10, John the Baptist tells religious leaders on the banks of the Jordan that "even now the AXE of God's judgement is ready to sever the roots of unfruitful trees". Jesus is the 'Barzel' that went down in the water and came up again!
