In 2 Kings 6, the prophet Elisha makes a sunken axe head float in the Jordan River. 550 years later, in Matthew 3:10, John the Baptist tells religious leaders on the banks of the Jordan that "even now the AXE of God's judgement is ready to sever the roots of unfruitful trees".
