Mammillaria celsiana 25 Seeds - Golden Pincushion Cactus

Mammillaria celsiana, commonly known as the golden pincushion cactus, is a cactus plant belonging to the Cactaceae family. M. celsiana is native to central Mexico where it is found growing in lime rock rich soils. This species is sometimes known to dichotomously branch to form a mound in maturity. Mammillaria celsiana is a small to medium, globose cactus that typically grows up to 6 inches in height and 1 to 2 inches in diameter. The stem of the plant is green to blue-green in color and is covered in short golden yellow to gray spines. M. celsiana blooms in spring and summer with bright purple flowers emerging from the areoles. Each flower measures no more than a half  inch in diameter. M. celsiana is grown as an ornamental plant for its small size and showy flowers. Mammillaria celsiana grows best in full sun to partial shade while sitting in well-draining soils. Water the plant adequately during summer and keep dry during winter as it is prone to rot. It is a drought-tolerant species
