Crystal Apple Cucumber
Crystal Apple is an Australian heirloom that produces 2 to 3-inch, round cucumbers with tender, white skins and crisp, sweet interiors. Developed by New Zealand breeder, Arthur Yates, the Crystal Apple cucumber quickly gained popularity locally and by the 1930s was available to gardeners worldwide. In our trials, the Crystal Apple was unbelievably productive. It seemed you would pick one and three more would appear. The tender cukes are best picked young while they are most crisp and sweet, and you'll be wise to do so, lest you find yourself with a mountain of them. We also noted that while these were a little slower to start producing, they it kept up until frost, even as many of our other cucumbers were slowing down. Harvests begin approximately 70 days after sowing. Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.
