Art History Lecture: Badass Women You Should Know - Rosa Bonheur

At Wheelhouse our goal is to make art accessible and fun. Part of growing as an artist is learning about other artists and movements. In 2025, we are starting a monthly art history lecture, focusing on artists you should know and art events and movements that resonate today. The monthly Art History Lecture will feature a short presentation, discussion period and an assortment of drinks and refreshments. For March we will be honoring Women’s History Month by learning about a rarely talked about female painter Rosa Bonheur. Bonheur was a Queer Feminist artist in the 1800’s. We will learn about her artwork, life and the lasting impact she had on women painters of the 19th century.
