In 1970, the president of the National Organisation for Women described lesbians as a "lavender menace" which threatened the feminist movement by potentially enabling them to be labelled as just "man hating lesbians". So women in the Gay Liberation Front crashed their congress, wearing t-shirts they printed emblazoned with "lavender menace", and demanded to be heard. Members agreed and within a year NOW members voted to respect lesbian rights. We have also produced this commemorative merch, with faded vintage style print, using their original design. • 8.0 oz., 50/50 cotton/polyester • Pre-shrunk • Classic fit • Reduced pilling and softer air-jet spun yarn • 1x1 athletic rib knit collar, cuffs and waistband, with spandex • Double-needle stitched collar, shoulders, armholes, cuffs and waistband Proceeds support the work of WCH, and veterans of this action.
