In 1970, the president of the National Organisation for Women described lesbians as a "lavender menace" which threatened the feminist movement by potentially enabling them to be labelled as just "man hating lesbians". So women in the Gay Liberation Front crashed their congress, wearing t-shirts they printed emblazoned with "lavender menace", and demanded to be heard. Members agreed and within a year NOW members voted to respect lesbian rights. We have also produced this commemorative merch, with faded vintage style print, using their original design, on a 100% cotton, unisex fit T-shirt. [Also available in femme fit] • 100% combed and ring-spun cotton (Heather colors contain polyester) • Fabric weight: 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²) • Pre-shrunk fabric • Side-seamed construction • Shoulder-to-shoulder taping Proceeds support the work of WCH, and veterans of this action.
