Egyptian Revival Victorian EAPG Serving Platter 19th Century
A fun and over-the-top Victorian flint glass serving dish with an ancient Egyptian theme. I love Cleopatra gazing off at the sphynx. The molded clear flint glass platter has been decorated in a design of an ancient scene of a queen of the Nile looking out at the Nile River with palms and the sphynx in the distance. The platter has an irregular border with a beaded petal design. The base has a rounded shallow foot. The dish may have had a purpose for serving bread as there are the words GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD on the cavetto. MEASUREMENTS 13 ¼” (33.7 cm) long x 8 ½” (21.6 cm) wide x 1 ¼” (*4.4 cm) deep. Weighs 1 lb 14.9 oz (875 g) CONDITION There are rough areas on the rim, but no chips, cracks, or breaks. There is some wear in the well of the platter. A very unusual dish to add to your Egyptian Revival collection or use to serve Egyptian nachos.
