English Staffordshire Transferware Plate Pearl White Foliage Design 19th Century

A heavy molded English transferware ceramic plate with a transfer design named Foliage. The heavy ceramic plate has a fine crazed glaze and a purple transfer design of an Italianate castle and a dreamy landscape. It even has reflection in the water of a balustrade and castle. The border at the mouth has repeating panels of castles surrounded by acanthus foliage. It has a shallow glazed foot and a glazed base. On the base is a transfer in blue with the word FOLIAGE and an impressed PEARL WHITE mark. MEASUREMENTS 9 ½” (24.1 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 6.6 oz (635 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is crazing to the glaze, wear to the central well, and staining to the glaze, especially on the back. There are kiln flaws, such as reserve spots, bumps, and spots. A colorful plate to add to your collection. I love the purple color.
