A 2020 commission, which took me away from my usual element of things with mouth pleasure. Usually a barefoot wearer or inappropriate heels at a casual affair, I felt slightly out of my comfort zone but very in my comfort of colouring. Comfort in textures and details, in the shadows that cast into the crevasses of the sole, in the reflections of the PVC swooshes and the ribbing of the laces. Comfort in the composition, in the statuesque configuration and display of footwear. This is how I display beloved items at home, like a proud hoarder of material things for which I swapped my money. Shoes are status. Shoes are, now, art.
