SPILL

If it looks like I’m now finding any excuse to spend time with matters of bread, then you’re not wrong. I’ve given you butter, a few times actually, but long before that, I gave you olive oil, and here I give it again. It makes sense. It adds to the collection. I still fight over what is better married to a baguette. And that’s a matter of debate, a matter of exploration in my work. Both give wonderful translucency to paper–grease–one of my aesthetics. It’s an obsession, and I know it’s shared. Good olive oil is the baseline for a good life in many cultures. I write this with zero references other than my experience. Long shall I generalise, long shall it live.
