Southwest Gold Beans
The Southwest Gold Bean is a hybrid variety of the heirloom Zuni Gold bean and was developed by UC-Davis to be disease tolerant and have higher yields. Their parent bean, the Zuni Gold bean, is an indigenous crop of the Zuni people from the Four Corners region and is part of the Slow Food Ark of Taste. These are a great all purpose bean. These beans are part of our foray into honoring the "collective" in Boonville Barn Collective. Southwest Gold beans were grown on our farm in Boonville and by Sophia Bates of Pennyroyal Farm in Boonville, CA. Our team harvested the beans and brought them back to our farm to thresh, clean, and get them bagged up. Your purchase of these beans helps support small family farmers in Boonville working together to use scale appropriate agricultural equipment to produce shelf stable crops. Beans noted 2025/ 1 were grown at our farm in Boonville and beans noted 2025/ 2 were grown at Pennyroyal Farm.
