The blade is 5/32" thick to start and tapered to the cutting tip. File work jimping has been added to the blade for a solid thumb purchase during heavy cutting and is heavy enough to do batoning. Shown in my gunstock tiger maple which is a darker shade than my standard color. This is the classic dark color of many flintlock and muzzleloader firearms of the frontier time in America.Also shown in reclaimed white oak Vermont barn wood.
