E. H. Pohl California Desert Coachella Valley Landscape Oil on Canvas Painting

We are offering  An Original Landscape Oil on Canvas of the California Desert, Coachella Valley by the well listed California Plein air artist, Ernest Pohl. The painting is on Heavy woven canvas with a wood stretcher. The Stretcher is pencil marked with:  "California Desert by E. H. Pohl San Diego, followed by his old home address.  written on the canvas frame in pencil:  Coachella Valley." This painting had sold at auction through Butterfield before 1999,  the sale information for that Butterflied sale is lost. The painting was again sent to auction in 2003, Lot 6333, at California Bonham's,  and sold for $2,644. 12/10/2003. Ernest and his wife founded the La Jolla, California Art Center,  Ernest Pohl was a businessman who did pastel & oil painting in his leisure time.  Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1874,   by 1915 he had settled in San Diego at 4468 Hortensia Street. he passed way in 1956.
