We are offering An Original Desert Landscape Oil on Canvas  By the well listed California Plein air artist, Ernest Pohl. The painting is of the Borrego Desert with the Mountains in the background. The painting was titled by the artist "Borrego Valley Calif." There is a label on the back of the painting stating that it has been recorded in the..... Inventory of American Paintings National Museum of American Art  Smithsonian Institution Washington D.C.   This painting had previously sold at auction  through Butterfield auction, 12/11/1986,  the sale information for that Butterflied sale is lost. Ernest and his wife founded the La Jolla, California Art Center,  Ernest Pohl was a businessman who did pastel & oil painting in his leisure time.  Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1874,   by 1915 he had settled in San Diego at 4468 Hortensia Street. he passed way in 1956.
