Brian Jones contributed parts on a wide range of instruments for the album, from Appalachian dulcimer to sitar, along with playing guitar and harmonica. The album, building on the success of their previous album's hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" also firmly cemented Jagger and Richards as a hit-producing songwriting team, going to #1 in almost every major music market worldwide.
