EMPRESS OF AUSTRALIA: 1920 - Large cruise deck plan from 1930s w/ interior photos
Canadian Pacific - A very large (34" by 46") fold-out cruise deck plan with interior photos from the 1930s for the EMPRESS OF AUSTRALIA. This former German liner was used frequently for long, leisurely cruises. Seven decks are shown in color-coded detail. Also, a replacement sheet for A Deck has been glued on. You can easily peek underneath to see that several regular cabins had been upgraded with private baths, among other changes. Black and white interior photos show First Class space: Smoking Room, Sitting Room of a suite, Pompeiian Pool, Main Lounge, Dining Saloon, Sun Room of a suite, Drawing Room, Ballroom, Promenade Deck, and three different cabins. The ship was launched in late 1913 as Hapag's ADMIRAL VON TIRPITZ but war delayed completion. Afterwards she was handed over to Great Britain and rebuild into the EMPRESS OF AUSTRALIA.
