42-Day Tomato

One of the earliest-ripening tomatoes you can grow, 42-Day Tomato is a compact, highly productive variety believed to have originated in Mexico. True to its name, it begins producing ripe fruit in as little as six weeks from transplant—perfect for gardeners eager for that first taste of summer. In our trials, the plants were absolutely loaded—so much so that the plants seemed a bit burdened by the fruit load (expect some leaf curl as they mature). The small, round tomatoes average about 1 ounce each, with sweet, balanced flavor and very few seeds. Their compact growth habit and heavy yields make this an excellent choice for containers, raised beds, or small-space gardens.
