Sometimes called Lebanese or Persian Cucumber, Beit Alpha is a Middle Eastern cucumber variety prized for its thin skins, crisp texture and wonderfully sweet flavor.  Bred at a kibbutz farm in Israel, the Beit Alpha was selected for its ability to endure extreme heat and drought, producing large crops of cucumbers in even the harshest climates.  Now becoming a mainstay in gardens and greenhouses around the world, the Beit Alpha cucumber has proven itself as not just an excellent producer, but quite possibly one of the best tasting cucumbers around, with a level of sweetness seldom achieved by other cucumber varieties.
